visa for an american traveling through canada

topic posted Mon, August 7, 2006 - 11:19 AM by  sam
hi everyone.

I was wondering if anyone knew the deal with how long one can stay in canada without a visa? I heard six months, but when i called the canadian consulate today, the woman told me it would be up to the person at the border, who would ask me some questions and then tell me, two weeks, or three months, or six months . . .

does anyone know the real deal, or the magic password? I'm going to be working at a yoga center on salt spring island, and then WWOOFing . . .

thank you very much.

You know, I`m sorry, I don`t have any good advice for you. If the border guards are in a good mood, which they usually are, then I don`t see a problem. As long as you have the name and number of the place you will be working at, it should be pretty easy to stay. This being said, I`m a citizen, so never had to look into any of this stuff.

Good luck, and if you`ve not been to BC before, your in for a treat! Salt Spring Island is gorgeous, as are all the islands, and I can`t imagine it will be any less than amazing. (Your experience that is)

    Cheers.
