I've been looking into taking a tour of Canada, I see contiki.com offers some that look pretty rad. Anyone ever traveled with them to Canada?

Re: Canadian Tours?
Tue, May 16, 2006 - 2:19 PMHi steve! I just joined, sorry this is so late! I have never used a Contiki tour, as I live here, but I know that VIA rail has some good deals and if your on a budget, you can get a Greyhound bus pass that is good across the country. It`s one of those get on, get off where you want to kinda passes, which is good if you`ve been sitting for 12 hours across the prairies and you`d sell your soul for a looooong walk but you still have another 24 to go before your in TO.
Alberta is really pushing tourism this year, after Brokeback Mountain came out, and thier economy is really strong so it`s a fun place. Calgary is ok, Edmonton, ok, but the Rockies is where it`s at. There are loads of tours that go between Lake Louise, Banff, and Jasper, but I can`t think of the names just now.
If your still interested, I will try to get some more info for you.
Cheers!

Re: Canadian Tours?
Wed, May 17, 2006 - 7:22 AMHere is the VIA rail site, if your interested. Travelling by train can be pretty cool, but I think depending where you go, you will have overnighters here and there. EG, if your going from Montréal to Halifax, you will have to spend one night (or two) in Toronto in a hotel. Not too bad if your visiting.
Good luck!
